Start by signing up for the Texas Adult Drivers Ed course online. Complete 6 hours of fun, self-paced learning at your convenience.

STEP
Take the DPS Written Exam
After finishing the TDLR-approved course, take the required written exam to earn your certificate. Be sure to also complete the required ITAD course.

STEP
Get Your Learner’s Permit
Bring your certificate to your local DPS office. You’ll need to pass an eye exam, have your photo taken, and get fingerprinted to receive your learner’s permit.

STEP
Schedule & Pass Your Road Test
Once you have your permit, schedule your road test at a state-approved driving school. After passing, visit your local DPS office to receive your official Texas driver’s license.
